The opening of a children day center at the chitalishte was the main goal of the project. The idea was to provide the children with a possibility for personal development, efficient use of their free time and improving their knowledge by different activities. In 2005 the premises were renovated and by the end of the year the children from the neighbourhood school and kindergartens started visiting it.

A Christmas party was organized and the children had the opportunity to use their imagination by performing famous fairytales interpreting them according to their own understanding. Another group of children were busy making Christmas decorations from dough and snowmen made of balloons. 

From the beginning of 2006 the center has been visited by approximately 350 children. A competition for painting and a traditional mask were took place and in February an exhibition was organised.It was visited not only by parents but by children from the town and specialised art groups from the chitalishta in the municipality. With the help of the teachers the children took place in the competition for the most original martenitza. At the exhibition an old womed dressed like baba Marta gave martenitzi to all the children and told them the legend of this exceptional Bulgarian tradition. The next competition will be for the best decorated Easter egg. Together with the Police the children from fourth grade were informed about the dangers and damage of drugs. Later in April training will be organized on other issues like sexual health, road safety, etc. In the summer reading sessions are planned where children who like books will read their favorites fairy tales to younger children.

The activities are organized by the library director and the librarian, a young and ambitious team working together with the media, school teachers and volunteersа. All the activities taking place in the day center are reported on the cable television or the regional paper. The children have learned to be responsible to the others and themselves, to have a dialogue and to be involved in events important for the community.
