Tulip Foundation and Chartis Europe in Bulgaria started an initiative to support the Heaven’s Angels Fund
16.05.2011
Tulip Foundation and the Bulgarian office of Chartis Europe S.A. participate in an international initiative for doctors and health workers in Africa with motorbikes to help them travel faster to remote communities, thus saving thousands of lives annually.

The aim is to purchase one bike and train one health care worker to ride and maintain the machine. Many of us take going to the doctor’s for granted, but in Africa thousand of people live miles away from the nearest hospital or clinic and, too often, transportation is unreliable or nonexistent. Thousands of children and adults can be saved from preventable, treatable diseases, if they can be reached by a doctor. This initiative is organized by the charity fund Heaven’s Angels, founded by Sir Richard Branson.

EngAIGers is a motor riders’ community in Chartis and AIG from all over the world. The EngAIGers will hold 2 rallies a year with the purpose of collecting funds for Heaven’s Angels. The first rally this year was held on 14th and 15th of May, when hundreds of EngAIGers from all over the world travelled on their motorbikes following a predetermined route. More than 500 individual bikers flight in different directions throughout the world to support the initiative of providing motorbikes to save lives. Our goal was to collect $50,000 during the first rally.

In Bulgaria on 14 May a group of 12 motor riders with 7 motorbikes rode from Sofia to Pleven, where they met with the EngAIGers from Romania, who were 5 motor riders (2 of them were women) with 4 motors. (Bulgarian National Television coverage)

The collection of donations continue and the organisers are planning a second rally in September 2011. We encourage donors and friends to support this initiative by making a donation to Tulip Foundation for which each sponsor will receive a contract and a certificate for donation. Over 4000 leva are collected until now. You can support this initiative as „Platinum” (a 1000 BGN donation) or „Gold” (a 500 BGN donation) sponsor. You can make a donation by transmitting funds to the following bank account in ING Bank that belongs to Tulip Foundation: IBAN: BG92 INGB 9145 1001 7292 15, BIC: INGB BGSF.

Tulip Foundation is a charitable organisation registered in the Central Registry of Non-Profit Organizations with the Ministry of Justice (Charity number 20050921005). Donations to Tulip Foundation are tax deductable.

The donated funds will be transferred to Heaven’s Angels as a collective contribution from Bulgarian companies. All participants and sponsors of the initiative will be notified in writing about the total amount donated to Heaven’s Angels and the practical results achieved.
