Together with partners from AGE Platform Europe and colleagues from Greece, Spain, Poland, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Malta and other countries, we participated in event with members of the European Parliament on the occasion of Older People's Day on 2 October. As organisations working to raise awareness and to overcome ageism, we presented our expectations that all European citizens should be able to enjoy their rights, regardless of age. We work for social inclusion, solidarity and intergenerational cohesion and gender equality.
Older people (65+) make up 20% of the EU population. This share is expected to rise to 30% in 2050. This shows that we need policies and practices that allow this population group to remain economically, socially, culturally and digitally included in all spheres of life.
We presented our appeal and received support from Members of the Parliament for the creation of an Intergroup Europe for All Ages.
