The formal part included country presentations and dissemination of short written information about the developments concerning FGC in each country.

The Network has been created ten years ago and the annual gatherings have been mostly focused on exchanging information about the different developments on FGC in various countries across Europe. In the meantime FGC became a well known practice in quite a number of European countries. The participants from some 16 countries discussed also the future of the FGC Network.

Maria Herczog, member of the UNCRC and also president of Eurochild joined the network meeting and made valuable contribution.

Mike Doolan, who has been for many years chief social worker of New Zealand and has been very helpful in the implementation of FGC in the Netherlands and in many other places in the world, also participated in the meeting.

The members of the network decided that the annual meeting in 2012 will take place in Bulgaria hosted by Tulip Foundation.
