Of NOGs and People Awards

The awards were officially announced at a special ceremony at 16 pm on 12 November 2015 at Hope hall at Sofia City Library.

Julia Tzinzova, Director of the Sofia City Library greeted the participants and the guests and spoke about the written word, the cooperation and the opportunities that it gives.

Maria Petkova from Tulip Foundation and Georgi Genchev from the NGO Informational Portal told about the idea and the aim of the competition for a short essay „Why is my organisation important for the people?”. The aim was to challenge and encourage the colleagues from civil organisations to use human language in communicating with people (especially those with and for whom they work), the donors, the volunteers, other organisations, media, society...

In total 49 essays were presented this year. A Jury consisting of Luba Yordanova, journalist at Capital weekly; Cveta Shopova, a journalist for many years at the National Radio and Marin Bodakov, writer and lecturer selected the best essays according to three criteria: human language of writing; clear and easy to understand presentation of the organisation and its importance for the people; interesting and moving narrative.

Cveta Shopova was really moved while reading the text presented by Wild Animals Foundation and inviting a representative to receive the award. Luba Yordanova presented the other awarded text of Step for Bulgaria Foundation.

The two organisations received a certificate and a check for 500 BGN. The awarded texts will be publically presented in various media and platforms.
