The aims of the campaign has remain the same over the years – to encourage joint events of people from all generations and to bring the attention of the society on continuity, mutual understanding, respect and solidarity between people from all generations.
During the days around 29 April in some 20 smaller and bigger places around the country numerous people from different generations got together in meetings, concerts, culinary workshops, games, competitions, discussions, musical performances, visits, planning of trees etc. etc. Many of the organisations behind those initiatives have already turned the Day into a tradition for their place.

29 April is a European day of Solidarity between Generations since 2008 and is aiming to draw the attention of the society to the need of adequate policies for older people in the EU. Solidarity between generations plays a key role in the development of fair and sustainable responses to the major economic and social challenges that the EU is facing nowadays.
