Invitation for organisations to participate in project activities
24.02.2009
Tulip Foundation starts a new project entitled “Promotion of older people’s social inclusion through national and local public debates” in partnership with 11 organisations from eight EU member states. The project is realised with the financial support of the European Commission.

This two year project seeks to help the national partners promote participatory debates at local/national level on the multiple aspects of social exclusion faced by older people and set up an efficient permanent consultation process with the relevant national/local policy makers.

Other stakeholders (social housing, youth organisations, education bodies, transport providers, etc.) will be invited to the preparatory and awareness meetings to promote a wider debate and address all relevant aspects of social exclusion.

Project activities include:
- Trainings for NGO partners (The first training is planed to take place beginning of April 2009);
- Exchange of information and good practices;
- Series of working meetings which will involve organisation working with people in risk and experiencing poverty or social excluded people. The purpose of those meetings are to discuss and propose course of actions which will ensure social inclusion of older people and other stakeholders in process of planning and realisation of polices and programmes addressed to them.
- Public events for celebrating 29 April – The European Day of Solidarity Between Generations and 1 October – The International Day of Older People;

Based on the experience on the national partners, AGE, the European Older People's Platform will develop guidelines for the setting up of an effective permanent consultation process which can then be transferred to NGOs in other member states and applied to the other two strands of the OMC (pensions and health and LTC). This methodology should help ensure that older people’s views are properly relayed from the grass root to local/national policymakers.
