The aim of our project was to protect the rights of people with disabilities through advocacy and providing consultations and support to 400 people with different degree of disability.

The project started in the end of 2006 with training for the team working with the people with disabilities. Rehabilitation equipment was provided for the Club of the people with disabilities. A specialised bus was bought with a wheelchair ramp, which was used to transport the young people with disabilities from their homes to the club; the bus was also used for trips to places of interest and sightseeing. We also provided technical equipment, food and clothes if there is a need for any of these. Technical equipment for 150 people was provided and transportation to their homes; 37 people with disabilities were transported to the rehabilitation centre in Velingrad. 607 consultations were given on social issues and with the help of two consultants two people received wheelchairs with an engine. Rehabilitation was available every Friday and 301 people used the services. Home visits were also offered by volunteers. The efforts of the volunteers covered the villages too since the need there was the biggest. During the project duration we managed to help 40 people with disabilities living in the town and another 36 living in the 20 villages of the municipality. We also provided chopped wood for the disabled people. 635 home visits were made, 607 people with disabilities received information on the changes in the law for people with disabilities, everyday care was offered to 40 people and 38 received help in the proves of getting disability pension. At the moment we are the most sought after organisation for solving specific problems and we have won the trust of all the people with disabilities in the community.
