The aim of the project was to provide protected environment and effective support for women – victims of domestic violence.

More than 100 psycho-social and juridical consultations for women – victims of domestic violence were delivered in the frame of the project implementation. Training for specialists working with children victims of domestic violence took place. A public awareness campaign was organised in order to raise understanding about domestic violence issues and to promote the activities and services provided by Centre Maria.

The model for prevention of violence against children and youth, established during 2010 in Gorna Oryahovitsa municipality is now a part of the Municipal programme for Child Protection for 2011. The activities aimed at prevention and protection against domestic violence, proposed by Centre Maria, are now included into the approved Regional strategy for social services. These facts prove that the society becomes more engaged in domestic violence issues.
