The project aims at improving the quality of the rehabilitation services offered at the Day Care Center for children and youth with intellectual difficulties in Pleven through furnishing a specialized gym. The realization of the idea took six months. We started with the project application to Tulip Foundation for the purchase of the specialized rehabilitation equipment. By Christmas 2005 we had the grant and purchased the equipment.

Then we started with the renovation of the premise where the equipment was supposed to be placed. Since the premise was at underground level we had to fix a ventilation system apart from the other renovation works. We approached another donor for that – The Humanitarian programme of the Jesus Christ Church. 

As a result of our meeting and discussions the Rotary Club in Pleven donated to us the architectural plans for the ventilation system. The regional branch of the Bulgarian Building Chamber helped us to get in touch with local construction companies from which we raised the remaining money and in kind support for the renovation of the premise and the ventilation system. 

The parents of the children attending the day center took active part in the renovation by painting the walls and cleaning the premise. The moment we placed the new rehabilitation equipment in the premise which has been transformed into a gym was very emotional for all of us since it was achieved with a lot of efforts and time of many people. The excitement of the children when they first entered the gym was our reward. The gym is now a realized dream - a dream that started with the support of Tulip Foundation.
