Theater performance Nashenci
15.06.2006
On 15 June in the Training Hall of the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts the play Nashentzi was performed with the support of Tulip Foundation. The play is the result of one of the many interesting projects funded by the foundation and this is the reason why we wanted to present it to the public in Sofia.

The play is based on texts by two great Bulgarian authors and is performed by children and youngsters with disabilities from the center Faith, Hopeand Love in Pazardjik, their peers from the school in the village of Patalenitza and students from the Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski. Together the young artists continue the old Bulgarian tradition of performing being in separable part of Renaissance Bulgaria as well as the process of development of children and young people in modern Bulgaria.

Since 2000 Association Help for Children at Risk is working for the integration of children with disabilities through art. The organisation has implemented various joint activities with children and young people with disabilities and children from the Primary school in the village of Patalenitza. The partnership between the association, the theater school Petrovden and the center Faith, Hope and Love for children and young people with disabilities dates back to 2002. Among the results of this partnership are many joint activities, rehearsals of plays and performances in several Bulgarian towns. However, it is the time spent together in the nights before the performances, the shared efforts and responsibility, the friendships and life experience that will be remembered forever by the children and young people.

The performance in Sofia was realized with the support of the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts and ONDA Coffee Break. At the end of the performance the audience was visibly moved by the talent of the children and their partnership on the stage. 269.85 leva and 500 USD were raised in support of the future activities and projects of the young actors.

They were congratulated by the Director of the National Center for Theater at the Ministry of Culture and were presented with flowers on the behalf of the Chairman of the Bulgarian Parliament. A special guest of the performance was the famous British actor Ben Cross who expressed his admiration for the young people on the stage. Joost Scholte from New Image Bulgaria invited the actors to visit Boyana Studio in July where they will have the opportunity to explore real film making.
