Volonteurope’s 25th Annual conference  “Apathy or Action: Young Europeans Take a Stand” took place in Nantes from 26 to 28 October 2016. It was co-organised with the French member of the network La Ligue de l’enseignemen.

The members of Volonteurope discussed current issues and themes concerning volunteering in Europe. Maria Petkova was elected Board member of the European network.

The conference brought together 150 young activists and civil society actors from across Europe. For some three days they were engaged in talks and debates, performances, an exhibition, visits to local NGOs and the launch of Volonteurope’s report on youth engagement in Europe. A series of youth-led workshops will explore the issues that matter to young Europeans, looking at examples of how they are taking action to effect change in their own communities. They discussed various activities and initiatives overcoming the notion that they are apathetic and disengaged from politics and society.
