55 initiatives from around Bulgaria were nominated for the Volunteer Initiative 2013 competition

55 interesting initiatives from around the country were nominated in this year’s national competition Volunteer Initiative 2013. The competition, announced by Tulip Foundation and the National Alliance for Voluntary Action in April this year, was opened for organisations and groups realising voluntary initiatives during the current year regardless the place and the period of the initiative, the aim and organisation of the actions, the sources of funding, the number and age of the volunteers. 

The presented initiatives are realized by local volunteers in 32 settlements. Ten of these have taken place in Sofia and another five are realized on a national level. The nominated volunteer activities are organized by civil organisations, informal groups, business companies, community clubs, local schools and individuals. 

The best initiatives will be selected on the basis of their results, the importance for the local community, the number and the involvement of the participants, the impact of the initiative on the development of the capacity of the volunteers and the team of the organisation and the financial effectiveness by a Jury with members Ambassador Ivan Stancioff, Chair of the Board of Karin dom Foundation; Boyko Stankushev, member of the Board of the Bulgarian National Television; Luba Yordanova, journalist at Capital newspaper and others. 

The best initiatives will be awarded with a certificate and a special award in the form of investment in the development of the volunteers and the team of the organisation. The award ceremony will take place in the beginning of December 2013.
