The main goal of the project is to raise awareness and to increase the sensitivity towards domestic violence among the specialists and institutions. The tasks that the Open Door Center has set for a period of one year are: renovation and furnishing of a training facility to be used by young specialist supporting women victims of violence, providing upgrade training for young specialists for social integration and rehabilitation of women victims of violence, providing specific knowledge and skills to psychologists, social workers and pedagogists offering consulting for women victims of domestic violence – family consultation.

With the project popularized an efficient model for prevention of domestic violence, strengthening and expanding the activities of the consultation crisis center aimed at consulting and supporting women victims of domestic violence. A specialized training facility was established. The specialized training on family consultation was attended by 30 specialists – psychologists, social workers and pedagogists. At the end of the training all participants presented their papers on the topic "How to apply the knowledge in my job". The results is improved capacity for dealing with the issues of domestic violence.

The trainers, E. Deliiska, family therapists and Z. Macheva, psychologist and family consultant, awarded the trainees with a certificate. The training took place in the renovated premises. At the end of the project implementation a handbook for family consultations was published “When the answer is in the family”.

It is very important for the specialist working with women victims of domestic violence to be well aware of the European standards operating in shelters for women and children. These standards were developed by WAVE, Austria and the translation was made possible by the implementation of this project.
